ArtHouse receives history making MENDING FENCES grant!!
This initiative is made possible by the Community Fund for Canada's 150th, a collaboration between the Burlington Foundation, the Government of Canada, and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast.
Mending Fences; an ArtHouse collaborative project inviting youth to participate in the colourful transformation of fences and walls within the Region of Halton in 2017 in celebration of Canada's 150th Anniversary.
FENCES NEVER LOOKED SO COLOURFUL.
Mending Fences is an initiative that will allow us to hear the voices of our youth through the arts, and to show them that we care about them and their anxieties by providing a safe place for them to express themselves, to unleash their creativity, to develop friendships and spend time with others who may be sharing similar life experiences. Thanks to the support of 18 collaborative partners, over 650 participants will work in small teams at 40 designated sites throughout Burlington and Oakville.
REDEFINING PUBLIC ART.
Mending Fences will strengthen our communities; not only culturally with public art, but it will reinforce a message to all generations that by investing in the well-being of our young people "today", they will have the opportunity to become our leaders tomorrow. It is also our hope that these public art spaces will stimulate and invite active dialogue rather than just passive observation, and foster social interaction that will lead to a sense of even greater community cohesion.
